La temp\u00e9rature croissante tendrait a faire fondre la roche mais la pression l\u2019en emp\u00eache. Seulement parfois, un volume du manteau remonte depuis le limite avec le noyau. Ce panache solide mais deformable s\u2019accumule sous la lithosph\u00e8re sans avoir le temps de refroidir, tandis que la pression diminue sans d\u00e9lai. La chaleur du panache fait alors fondre la rochede la lithosph\u00e8re : c\u2019est ce qu\u2019on appelle un point chaud !<\/p>\n<p>Mais ce n\u2019est pas tout ! Ce processus se produit au cours de plusieurs millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es et pendant ce temps, la plaque tectonique se d\u00e9place. Si la chambre se fracture : par exemple si la pression dans le r\u00e9servoir devient trop forte et qu\u2019il rompt le toit de la chambre), le gaz est d\u00e9comprim\u00e9e et se s\u00e9pare du magma en formant des bulles : on parle d\u2018exsolution.<\/li>\n<li>Dans sa brusque remont\u00e9e, le gaz entraine le magma avec lui vers la surface et, de la m\u00eame fa\u00e7on que pour une bouteille de champagne d\u00e9bouch\u00e9e brutalement, c&rsquo;est l\u2018\u00e9ruption !<\/li>\n<li>Parfois, au cours des \u00e9ruptions les plus violentes, la chambre magmatique peut se vider, son toit peut s\u2019effondrer et former une caldera.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Mais ce n\u2019est pas toujours le cas. La plupart de temps la chambre magmatique ne se vide que partiellement et se remplit de nouveau, par injection de magma depuis une source profonde, et on passe de l\u2019\u00e9tape 1 \u00e0 2
